Motional robotaxis join the Uber app in Vegas two years after major reset

Hyundai-owned Motional has launched its autonomous Ioniq 5 vehicles on the Uber app in Las Vegas, offering rides with a safety monitor across five zones including the Strip and Downtown. The launch marks a comeback for Motional, which underwent a major restructuring two years ago after Aptiv exited and Hyundai injected $1 billion, pivoting its AV technology to a neural network-based approach with plans for fully driverless service by year-end.
