'Miracle': Europe reconnects with lost spacecraft

The European Space Agency re-established communication with its Proba-3 coronagraph spacecraft after losing contact on February 14 when a chain reaction caused the satellite to lose orientation and drain its batteries. Engineers spotted sunlight hitting the tumbling spacecraft's solar panels and used the small amount of power to reconnect. The mission uses two satellites flying in precise formation over 60,000 km above Earth to create artificial solar eclipses for studying the sun's corona.
