Convicted spyware chief hints that Greece’s government was behind dozens of phone hacks

Intellexa founder Tal Dilian, convicted to eight years for mass wiretapping in Greece's 'Greek Watergate' scandal, plans to appeal and hinted that the Mitsotakis government authorized the hacking of dozens of phones belonging to officials and journalists using Predator spyware. Dilian told Reuters he refuses to be a 'scapegoat' and is willing to share evidence with regulators, while no Greek government officials have been convicted. The U.S. imposed sanctions on Dilian in 2024 after Predator was found targeting American officials and journalists.
