Astral to Join OpenAI

Astral, the company behind popular Python tools Ruff, uv, and ty, has agreed to join OpenAI as part of the Codex team. Their open source tools, which have grown to hundreds of millions of monthly downloads, will continue to be developed openly under OpenAI. The move aims to combine Astral's tooling expertise with AI-driven software development at Codex to further their mission of making programming more productive.
