A unique NASA satellite is falling out of orbit—this team is trying to rescue it

NASA's 21-year-old Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory is falling out of orbit and has been offline for over a month. NASA awarded Katalyst Space Technologies a $30 million contract to build and launch a commercial robotic satellite to stabilize Swift's orbit, marking a first-of-its-kind commercial rescue mission. Swift remains scientifically valuable for detecting gamma-ray bursts, and no other US satellite fully replicates its capabilities.
