A defense official reveals how AI chatbots could be used for targeting decisions

A US Defense Department official revealed that the military may use generative AI chatbots to rank and prioritize strike targets, with humans vetting the recommendations. This adds a new conversational AI layer on top of the existing Maven big data initiative, which has used computer vision to analyze surveillance data since 2017. OpenAI's ChatGPT, xAI's Grok, and Anthropic's Claude have all been linked to Pentagon use in classified settings.
