This post provides a set of Fish shell functions to automate common AWS EC2 lab operations—creating, snapshotting, restoring, and terminating instances—so security engineers can save time, preserve lab state, and minimize billing. Snapshots cost roughly 60x less than leaving instances running, while fully preserving the environment between sessions.
