Treasure hunter freed from jail after refusing to turn over shipwreck gold

Deep-sea treasure hunter Tommy Thompson, who discovered millions in gold from the 1857 SS Central America shipwreck, has been released from prison after a decade for refusing to reveal the location of 500 missing gold coins. Thompson's investors sued him for failing to share proceeds from the $50M+ treasure sale, and he was jailed on contempt charges in 2015 after years as a fugitive. The judge ultimately ended his indefinite civil contempt sentence, concluding he would never comply.
