Semi-retirement, or, really, changing my relationship with the BSDs

A long-time OpenBSD developer and professor reflects on his 2,404-commit journey since 2013 and how he now involves his graduate students in BSD-related research. He highlights a collaboration building on Todd Mortimer's 2019 AsiaBSDCon paper on compiler-level ROP attack mitigations in OpenBSD's LLVM toolchain, with students investigating the efficacy of these software-based defenses on older amd64 hardware kept in service due to supply chain shortages.
