The CLI Authentication Standard Adopted by Almost No One

RFC 8628 introduced a secure device flow authentication standard for CLI tools back in 2019, yet the vast majority of CLI applications continue shipping with legacy and vulnerable authentication implementations. This widespread adoption gap represents a critical security blind spot for developers and enterprises, particularly as CLI tools become increasingly central to development workflows.
