Monte Verde site gets a new date, but the big picture doesn't change

New research by University of Wyoming archaeologist Todd Surovell suggests the Monte Verde site in southern Chile is only 8,000 years old, not 14,500 as originally claimed. While this significantly changes understanding of the site itself, it doesn't overturn the broader consensus that people were in the Americas before the end of the last Ice Age, nor does it revive the "Clovis First" hypothesis.
