Major leap towards reanimation after death as mammal's brain preserved

Nectome has successfully preserved an entire mammalian brain using a protocol compatible with physician-assisted death, and plans to offer the service to terminally ill people. The technique involves flushing the brain with aldehyde fixatives within minutes of cardiac arrest, then replacing water with cryoprotectants to prevent ice crystal damage during cooling to -32°C. Tests on pig brains showed excellent preservation of neurons, synapses, and molecular structures when perfusion began within 14 minutes of death.
