Stripe and Tempo co-authored the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), an open standard enabling AI agents to transact programmatically without human intervention. MPP supports microtransactions, recurring payments, stablecoins, and fiat via Stripe's PaymentIntents API, and is already powering agentic business models like Browserbase, PostalForm, and Prospect Butcher Co. Stripe is building broader agentic financial infrastructure including its Agentic Commerce Suite and ACP to serve agents as a new category of internet users.
