Gemini task automation is slow, clunky, and super impressive

Google's Gemini task automation, now available on Pixel 10 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra, can operate apps like food delivery and rideshare services on behalf of the user. While still in beta and notably slow—taking nine minutes to complete a dinner order—the feature runs in the background and stops before final confirmation for user review. Despite its clunkiness and limited app support, it represents a significant milestone as the first real AI assistant autonomously navigating phone apps outside of controlled demos.
