Validating Enterprise RAG: Four Metrics for Secure Knowledge Systems

Enterprise RAG evaluation differs fundamentally from consumer search because it must handle role-restricted documents alongside general ones. Standard retrieval metrics alone cannot validate security when access control is involved—organizations must also verify that restricted documents don't leak into answers they shouldn't influence. This article introduces four complementary metrics (pass rate, restricted leakage count, citation coverage, and latency) that together provide a comprehensive validation standard for enterprise knowledge systems handling mixed-sensitivity documents.
