Databricks bought two startups to underpin its new AI security product

Databricks launched Lakewatch, a new AI-powered security product that performs SIEM tasks using Anthropic's Claude, built on two startup acquisitions: Antimatter (acquired last year) and SiftD.ai (closed Monday). Antimatter brought data control plane IP and its founder Andrew Krioukov now leads the Lakewatch team, while SiftD.ai, co-founded by former Splunk chief scientist Steve Zhang, was largely an acquihire. The acquisitions follow Databricks' recent $5 billion funding round.
