China is mass-producing hypersonic missiles for $99,000

A Chinese private company has begun mass-producing the YKJ-1000 hypersonic missile at a unit cost of $99,000, with launchers disguised as standard shipping containers that can be deployed virtually anywhere. Military analysts warn this creates a radical cost asymmetry favoring offense, as defenders must spend millions per intercept attempt, and there are currently no reliable defenses against hypersonic weapons.
