Casio’s new $600 calculator is a work of art

Casio has released the S100X, a $624 basic calculator featuring a traditional Japanese lacquer finish hand-applied over a month by master artisan Ryuji Umeda of Yamakyu Shitsuki. Limited to 650 units worldwide, the calculator features a milled aluminum body, 12-digit blue-tinted display, solar panel, and coin battery lasting up to seven years.
