Cannabinoids remove plaque-forming Alzheimer's proteins from brain cells

Salk Institute researchers found preliminary evidence that THC and other cannabinoids can reduce toxic amyloid beta protein levels and eliminate the associated inflammatory response in lab-grown human neurons. The study is believed to be the first to show cannabinoids affect both inflammation and amyloid beta accumulation in nerve cells, suggesting potential new therapeutic avenues for Alzheimer's disease.
