AWS quietly renamed the SysOps Administrator exam to AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (SOA-C03) in September 2025, with significant content changes beyond a simple rebrand. The new exam shifts focus from reactive system administration to proactive cloud operations, adding emphasis on multi-account governance, container/serverless operations, advanced observability, and Infrastructure as Code including CDK. The exam format also changed, dropping hands-on labs in favor of 65 multiple-choice questions in 130 minutes.
