A private space company has a radical new plan to bag an asteroid

Los Angeles-based TransAstra has proposed a "New Moon" mission to fly to a near-Earth asteroid roughly the size of a house, enclose it in a large bag, and relocate it to a processing facility near Earth. An unnamed customer is funding a feasibility study, targeting up to 250 candidate asteroids that could supply water for propellant and minerals for space manufacturing. If fully funded, the mission could reach an asteroid by 2028 or 2029.
