A Mysterious Numbers Station Is Broadcasting Through the Iran War

A mysterious shortwave radio broadcast in Persian has been airing twice daily since the US-Israel attack on Iran began on February 28, transmitting strings of numbers in a format consistent with Cold War–era number stations. Radio tracking organization Priyom traced the signal's origin to a US military base in Böblingen, Germany, possibly linked to the 52nd Strategic Signal Battalion. Experts believe the broadcast is an encrypted intelligence communication method historically used by spy agencies to contact field agents in hostile environments.
