$36/Month: The Entire Dev Environment

A developer runs an entire production dev environment on two DigitalOcean droplets costing $36/month total, using only SSH and terminal tools with no GUI, IDE, or browser. The setup evolved organically from necessity — deploying via CLI, monitoring through cron scripts and Telegram alerts, and running up to four concurrent Claude Code sessions as autonomous dev agents. Cross-server communication, background pollers, and a monitoring dashboard were all built terminal-first, replacing typical GUI tools like Grafana, Slack, and Vercel dashboards.
